Monday a letter to Texas Midwives and some proposed rules were posted on the Texas Midwifery Board's website. These proposed new rules are specifically for the regulation of students and preceptors in Texas. Please go to the Midwifery Board website at http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/midwife/mw_new.shtm to read the entire proposal. Personally, I don't have a problem with new rules being considered but I do have big problems with the exact wording these proposed rules. I'd like to share my observations and comments with everyone because if my observations are correct, it will be very important for the State of Texas to hear from a lot more people than just me. My comments are below. I've already mailed them to the Midwifery Board. I quoted anything I commented on but please refer to the proposal on the Midwifery Board website as needed. I would welcome some discussion on this topic. So please feel free to email me if want to discuss it. Also, please consider sending in comments from your own perspective, espeically if you are a consumer. I know that the Midwifery Bord always considers it especially valuable to hear from consumers. |

Wow, I haven’t blogged in so long! It’s not that there hasn’t been anything to write about. I’ve just been busy and let the time get away from me. I’m sure you know how that goes.
First I want to give a brief update with regard to my last blog. I’ve lost 50 lbs! I’m only 4 lbs from my goal weight. I’m exercising almost every day and am healthier than I have been in years.
The Internet tools I’ve been using to help monitor my dietary intake and exercise have been very helpful. So I decided to share these tools with my clients. Most of my clients have found them very helpful, too. I will post some links to these tools in the near future, but I want to write up some guidelines on how to use them first because the sites are not specifically geared towards pregnancy. So there are a few things I need to explain before recommending them for use during pregnancy. |

Okay, I'm afraid I relate a little bit too much to the lady on the right! So, for the past 3 months I've been trying to do something about it. |

It’s been a while since I last blogged. It’s tempting to try and catch up in this blog entry on everything that has happened, but that would take too long to explain. So, as Inigo Montoya said to Westley in The Princess Bride, “Let me ‘splain…No, there is too much. Let me sum up.” |
